Okay, I Ran

Okay, I Ran

Running the Georgina half marathon, I had one goal in mind: break the 2 hour mark. After 15 weeks of following my first consistent and structured training plan, I showed up on race day feeling strong and excited to see what I could do.

The training block wasn’t perfect. I battled recurring pains that felt defeating at times, and I burned through a year’s worth of health benefits in those 15 weeks thanks to physio, chiro, massage, and acupuncture. But by listening to my body and sticking with the plan, I felt a steady sense of progress, and confidence in the results I was seeing.

My favourite part of every race I’ve done so far is doing it with friends. Seeing them along the route and watching them smash their goals (whether it be new distances or questionable footwear) keeps me inspired and pushes me to dig deep. I was able to stick to my goal pace throughout the race and had enough left in the tank to pick up the pace in the final few kilometres.  It felt really good.

In the end, I crossed the finish line at 1:57:52, with my people cheering me on.

So… what are we racing next?
